I take the utmost care to build trust with you and your amazing equine in front of me. Each session concludes with custom homework ideas that you can practice with your horse.
Feel good fun and joy are definitely involved in the process for both horse and human!!!!
This space is created in love and influenced by so many beautiful horses and their humans I’ve met along my path.
I’ve been told many times that I’m quite different from many offering equine related services that you may have met. My introverted and highly sensitive nature is serving me well as this work develops. I’m often very quiet when first interacting with a horse so that I can really tune in and observe all that they are showing me.
I use many different Gentle processes to help the horse connect to their own body and mind. I love showing humans options they didn’t even know were possible to find more connection and understanding with their horse.
The work is typically slow in the beginning to allow the horse their time needed to feel, integrate and process. I may use a number of different soft tools after asking and receiving permission from the horse through their body language. Once the horse trusts the foundation and feels more stable in their body, they often offer more energy in a beautiful regulated way.
I do find the skilled use of food, appropriate for the individual horse, as a reinforcer very helpful for some horses if their human is willing to allow me to experiment.
There is a whole world of gentle positive safe options to explore that the horses I have worked with truly seem to appreciate. I love using Voice Cues, Gentle Tactile Cues, Verbal Praise and the horse’s natural preferences to their environment to aid in clarity. Once the horse becomes comfortable with my presence, it’s not uncommon for them to teach me some new helpful tips. I will be sharing these in my Blog and occasional email.
After years of experimenting with many tools in training, I have made a choice not to use typical tools used to move horses through driving or pressure such as whips, sticks, canes, wands, or flags in my sessions. Sometimes that requires creativity and extra patience which is so fun to experiment with.
Wishing you and your horse friendship and wellbeing!
